IDA MAE

Murals

Ida Mae created a community mural in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The mural was installed May-July 2023, and depicts 15 children in different states of play, each exploring a different part of the magnolia tree. The tree is also home to a variety of animals, including butterflies, caterpillars, owls, garden snakes, and squirrels. The mural is a beautiful and vibrant celebration of childhood and the natural world.

Ida Mae is a Mississippi native, and the magnolia tree is a symbol of her home state. In her own words, the magnolia tree is “a tool of exploration, inspiration, and education.” The tree provides a place for children to explore, learn, and grow. It is a reminder of the importance of nature and the power of imagination.
